You Can Bike Too would not be possible without the support of our incredible volunteers. They are each unique and skilled in different ways and truly do keep our wheels spinning by showing up! So, each month we will be featuring an interview with one of our volunteers. They truly are Ordinary Superheroes!
This month's volunteer is....Angela!
What is Angela's role?
Angela has been with You Can Bike Too right from the beginning. She is part of the project team who developed the idea and makes the bike decisions. Angela has two volunteer roles now. One is at our cycling events, where she is in charge of welcoming people, getting people signed in, and taking their payment. She is pretty darn good at it too! Angela is also an incredible public speaker. She is one of our presentation volunteers, who has been called upon to tell her story and You Can Bike Too's story in places like: the equalities team at the council, 2 local radio stations, volunteer training days, idea days with professionals, and more! It is so incredible to have Angela tell the bike project's story. She truly is an inspiration.
What do you like about volunteering?
"I like volunteering to help people and to collect money from people. I like doing that. It helps me to count notes, count and practice my skills. That's what I like."
Which is her favourite bike?
Angela has a few favourite bikes! She especially likes the the double hand cycle, the 3 seater (Roame Twinbike Plus), and the red one with handle (Tom Cat Trike). The one is especially good because people can hold onto the handle at the back and help the person cycling.
You can see pictures of all of our bikes here.
Tell us a story about cycling. When did you learn to cycle?
Angela says she learned to cycle "ages ago. About 2 years ago on the guided busway with my sister. I really like cycling". She also had some lessons a few years ago where she learned all about bike safety and how to ride a two wheeler! Angela is most definitely a cycling enthusiast!
Thank you, Angela, for all of your hard work!
