Lots of eager faces, youngsters keen to get on bikes approached our sign in table and...we were off! Helmets on, disclaimers signed, volunteer instructors sorting out which bike was suitable for whom...encouraging and spreading their bike love! Everyone had fun, yes there was mud, there were puddles...but there was no rain! That kindly held off until half an hour after the session finished.
George was a star..he learnt to scoot! Despite a lot of distraction! Fraser pedalled himself on a trike for the first time ever! Wooo hooo! All amazing certificate moments. Everyone cycled.
What was the 'distraction' ? Actually it was more 'entertainment' provided by the Fire Service who were on a training day.
Roscoe - the 'plastic' horse, life size on wheels, was ready to be pulled in to a ditch and then 'rescued' by the very brave fire fighters of Cambridgeshire!
You can imagine the amount of laughing that went on....Though we do try, we can't promise this kind of entertainment every session...!
Pedal on Up - with horse distraction!
We had lift off! Half term fun on bikes was the order of the day for youngsters with disabilities and their families and carers.
The session was fully booked up prior to the day - the flyers had done their trick...word was out!
Fraser -aged 17 years old -pedalling himself for the first time ever!
George learning to scoot!
Many thanks to Cambridgeshire County Council Innovation Funding for supporting this half term session!
